The FDA and the USDA jointly regulate the sale, distribution, production and importation of food products into the United States.  The USDA regulates meat products and related items, while the FDA regulates most other food products.

The USDA, regulates under various Federal laws, meat products, poultry products and egg products.  

Inspection & Registration

The USDA has very stringent standards which must be met by any facility producing meat products for the U.S. market.  This includes the requirement of a USDA meat inspector at the facility and detailed production and shipment records.
